Title:
Moving Target Defense (MTD): Recent Advances and Future Research Challenges

Abstract:

Moving Target Defense (MTD) is one of promising proactive cyber defense techniques. The main aim of using MTD techniques is to confuse attackers by changing the attack surface of various systems and networks. This talk will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to the core ideas of MTD techniques including i) three dimensions of MTD (when, how, and what to move), ii) MTD techniques in a horizontal/vertical view, and iii) Security and economic metrics related to MTD;
  • recent advances in MTD techniques (with my own research highlights);
  • some practical examples of MTD design and implementation; and finally
  • challenges and future directions for MTD research.
